Elizabeth Warren

Democratic Presidential Debate

June,26,2019

In my opinion, Elizabeth Warren won the first presidential debate. She knows what the country needs and isn’t afraid to fight for the people. Warren has a plan for every issue facing America. During the debate, Warren didn’t surprise anyone when asked if she had a plan to deal with the worst obstructionist in the history of our country, Republican majority leader, Mitch McConnell. Of course she did. That’s how she rocks. She has dedicated her entire life for protections and the equal rights of working class citizens.

Warren talked about creating 1.2 million manufacturing jobs that will save our plant and national economy by concentrating on making America a leader in green industries. I believe the coal mining industry of the past will be replaced with the manufacturing of will mills and solar panels. All of this makes sense for our collective survival and economic futures.

Braking up the huge monopolies like Google and Amazon also make sense. Monopolies have always caused infringed on the basic rights of the people. Huge oil companies have made billions in revenue, while the rest of us struggle to pay for life’s necessities.

The rich must bear a responsibility to the society that supported their success. The wealthiest of all people should pay taxes, which in turn benefit the general working class. In other words, as you make more money, you have a responsibility to your society to pay more in taxes. Paying your fair share of taxes is a social responsibility.

I find it incomprehensible that the richest of the rich are not paying any tax at all. The laws allowing this must be changed for the good of our people.

Warren and I believe healthcare is a human right. Single-payer healthcare should be implemented as fast as possible. Basic social security means we must have single-payer healthcare.

I personally believe Medicare for all is insufficient. I recently was eligible for Medicare. I had to give up my Medicaid. I was surprised to learn that my Medicare doesn’t pay for my yearly GYN exam. Under Medicaid my yearly exam was covered. Medicare is far from anything perfect. Now I must purchase supplemental insurance that I can’t afford on my fixed income to cover the 20% Medicare won’t cover. That is another 100.00 dollars per month, and my GYN was 250.00 dollars. Recently I paid 1500.00 dollars for one crown on my tooth. Medicare doesn’t cover dental or vision care. It is a real hardship for a person on a fixed income pay for all of this.

All is nothing compared to what I had faced in my life when my family didn’t have health insurance. My son was born at a time we had no medical insurance, and we almost lost our house. I could write a book on the negative impact of having no health insurance in my lifetime.

The economic situation for each individual would improve with universal healthcare. Citizens would be free of this psychological and emotional burden, and be able to pursue their ambitions without constant worries about what happens when you are sick or injured.

Healthcare is a human right that the Europeans have enjoyed since the end of WWII, and we have been left behind.  America deserves universal healthcare.

I trust Elizabeth Warren to fight and establish a Federal Health Commission that controls prescription drug costs and provides quality comprehensive healthcare to all of America’s people.

I trust Elizabeth Warren to fight for free higher education so everyone has a chance to go to college. Access to education for all would enhance our ability in a united diverse society to meet the economic and social challenges of the future.

I trust Elizabeth Warren to fight for fair elections and the Equal Rights Amendment.

I trust Elizabeth Warren to decrease the disparity of wealth in our country. The top 1% must pay their share to society.

I trust Elizabeth Warren’s integrity, resolve, and convictions.

Boston Harbor the day I graduated with my BS in Journalism, May 2014. I was 60 years old and proud to finally be able to get my degree after all these years.
